Our school of engineering has been established with a mission and objective to pursue high quality research and impart research-led education in emerging multi-disciplinary areas encompassing science, engineering and technology. Academic programs at our school of engineering are designed to enable growth and learning in a highly focused and application-based environment. This is achieved through a combination of formal lectures and hands-on experience in well-equipped laboratories and through project activity, which will equip students to design and operate high-end computing systems. DEPARTMENT OF THERMAL AND ENERGY ENGINEERING

The thermal and Energy Engineering department is primarily focused on thermal energy technologies and systems and covers advanced aspects of energy system modeling, heat- and mass transfer, control engineering, and experimental work with a focus on different components and energy system aspects. The themes for the HND Programs are particularly focused on Thermal Energy and Process Engineering and an in-depth understanding of the technologies and scientific disciplines involved in energy conversion, utilization, and transport. The education is multidisciplinary and covers the integration of general engineering disciplines such as thermal systems, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and thermal hydraulics.

Objectives

The main objectives to be attained through the specialization can be summarized as follows:

  • To obtain a general understanding of the design, modeling, and optimization of energy systems used in various energy production applications
  • To understand the detailed operation, functionality, and interaction between the various components of key thermal energy conversion technologies.
  • To gain detailed insight into system integration concerning both system efficiency and control engineering aspects of energy systems.
  • To be able to develop, construct and operate thermal energy conversion technologies in the laboratory and in real applications.

The School of Engineering and Technology offers a 2-year diploma program in Petroleum Engineering. The growing significance of the petroleum industry has resulted in the demand for skilled personnel and individuals with the effective knowledge which is required for navigating this field and tackling various challenges in the oil and gas industry. 

As a way of meeting this demand, the program offers fundamental exposure and training in the various aspects of Petroleum Engineering. The field provides an in-depth understanding of petroleum exploration. 

OUTCOME OF THE PROGRAM

The School of Engineering offers an HND diploma program in Petroleum Engineering. As a way of contributing to the growth of this industry, this program is designed to produce the competent man-power, who can fully navigate the elements related to this field and also produces engineers equipped to conduct safe and environmentally sound exploration, evaluation, development, and recovery of oil, gas, geothermal and other fluids in the earth.

WHAT YOU WILL KNOW

The program is approved by MINSUP, this ensures the delivery of quality academics coupled with the most relevant industry exposure. It provides a comprehensive study of vital concepts of the Petroleum Industry which include petroleum exploration, fundamental fluid, and rock behavior, reservoir engineering, production engineering, and artificial lift, well engineering (well testing and well completions and stimulation), formation evaluation, economic evaluation of petroleum projects, environmental and safety issues, computer simulation, supplemental and enhanced oil recovery, drilling engineering, environmental engineering, and refining technology.

Engineering design is taught throughout the curriculum, including a senior design course that applies learned skills to real-world reservoir development and management problems.

The courses are designed such that students can specialize according to their interests.

Candidates to the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will be coached to deal with real-life situations creatively, ethically, and professionally. The use of electricity, for example, is fundamental to modern life. Without a secure supply, society in its current form would collapse. During the first year, you will be supported by unit-specific tutors, who hold weekly small-group sessions to discuss questions related to your course. Additionally, you will also be assigned an Academic Advisor, who will offer you support in terms of your academic progression and career development.

Options and flexibility

The first three semesters of our HND program courses, share the same content. This allows you to transfer between electrical and electronic, electronic and mechatronic engineering up until halfway through your second year. 

Teaching and learning

Project-based teaching and field trips are at the heart of programs offered at PAC-LAB HITMS, and so of this program. The real world is the most important classroom, thus going beyond the classroom helps you apply your learning to real-life scenarios and understand how the world works. This program emphasizes component learning, component identifying, software stimulation, programming, practical, and field-based experiences. These are great opportunities to get your hands dirty!

For instance, you will be:

  • Learning how people in Cameroon can generate different forms of electrical energy
  • Writing programs using different programs (proteus, MATLAB, etc)
  • Developing software
  • Building and repairing laboratory equipment.

Our Engineering Graduates will be able to:
  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

The School of Engineering and Technology offers a two-year HND diploma program in Civil Engineering and seeks to impart to the students the knowledge and competencies related to construction and building structures.
